RED DWARF: BACK TO EARTH NEWS

FUTURE RED DWARF PROJECTS.......

NEWS JUST IN!!!

RED DWARF’ TO MAKE DIGITAL RETURN!!!

Thursday: August 28th 2008: 0.18 BST

The cast of Red Dwarf will reportedly reunite for a series of new shows to be broadcast, on the Digital Channel: DAVE, during 2009.

The Sun states that Craig Charles, Chris Barrie, Danny John-Jules, Robert Llewellyn and Chloe Annett, will appear in four thirty minute: Red Dwarf Specials, that will combine new material, with classic footage of the cult BBC2 sitcom.

Red Dwarf ran for eight seasons between 1988 and 1999. Numerous attempts, to finance a Cinematic version of the programme, have failed, in recent years.

Co-creator Doug Naylor stated in 2007, that the BBC had opted not to pursue a ninth season of the show, despite its previous commercial success.

RED DWARF X NEWS

Confirmation and dates, of recording, for the filming, of Red Dwarf X, was officially announced, on Friday the 11th of November 2011. The Tenth Series of Red Dwarf, will consist, of six episodes, and will be filmed, in front, of a Live Studio Audience. As of Friday the 16th of December 2011, filming of the Tenth Series of Red Dwarf, was set to begin, and Production, would run through, up until, the end of January 2012. And, filming, of the Tenth Series of Red Dwarf, had officially ended, on Thursday the 2nd of February 2012, where filming, in front, of the Live Studio Audience, had been concerned, and the Series, is now, in Post Production.

But that said, however, Craig Charles, had announced, via his Saturday night: Funk and Soul Show, at the BBC 6 Music Radio Station, on Saturday the 4th of February 2012, that he, had still, been working, on the Tenth Series of Red Dwarf, along with his Fellow Red Dwarf Cast Members, and the Crew, of Red Dwarf, for an extra week, without the Live Studio Audience, because of all, of the Pick-ups, that had been, involved, along with all, of the Technical Work, that goes, into making, a Series of Red Dwarf.

And, Craig Charles, had also announced, via his Saturday night: Funk and Soul Show, at the BBC 6 Music Radio Station, on Saturday the 11th of February 2012, that he, had still, been working, on the Tenth Series of Red Dwarf, along with his Fellow Red Dwarf Cast Members, and the Crew, of Red Dwarf, for an extra week, without the Live Studio Audience, because of all, of the bad weather, that had, been caused, by the bad fall of snow, which had, held up, some of the additional Film Work, that Craig, along with his Fellow Red Dwarf Cast Members, and the Crew, of Red Dwarf, had still got, to put in, during late January 2012.

And finally, Red Dwarf X, has officially, been in Post Production, since Saturday the 11th of February 2012, but I cannot be, officially quoted, on that, anyhow!

And, Red Dwarf X, is scheduled, to be broadcast, on the Digital Channel: DAVE, during the Autumn of 2012, to avoid clashing, with the BBC’s broadcasting schedules, of The 2012 Olympic Games, and The 2012 Paralympic Games, from Friday the 27th of July 2012, up until, Sunday the 12th of August 2012, on Saturday the 10th of March 2012.

RED DWARF XI AND XII NEWS

With regard, to the future of Red Dwarf XI, via an interview, which Craig Charles, had conducted, with Mike Boorman, during early October 2014, and via: The Official Red Dwarf Fan Club’s News Section Website, with regard, to The Status of Red Dwarf XI, it looked like, the Cast and Crew of Red Dwarf, would not, be going, into Production, where the Eleventh Season of Red Dwarf, was concerned, until some time, during 2015, with an expected release, of Red Dwarf XI, which is going, to be broadcast, on The Freeview Channel: Dave, some time, during 2016.

And, it had originally, been announced, and officially confirmed, via Danny John-Jules, at the April 2014: Sci-Fi Scarborough Festival, during the Red Dwarf Cast Panel, that filming, of the Eleventh Season of Red Dwarf, would have originally commenced, during October 2014, with an expected release, of Red Dwarf XI, which would, have originally, been, broadcast on The Freeview Channel: Dave, during the Autumn of 2015.

And Craig Charles, had stated, via the interview, which he had conducted, with Mike Boorman, during early October 2014, that even though, he had definitely felt, along, with the rest, of the Cast and Crew of Red Dwarf, when they, had filmed: Red Dwarf X, about two years ago, and even though: Red Dwarf X, had been, very well received, indeed, and that, there are definite plans, where the future of Red Dwarf XI, is concerned, via Grant Naylor Productions, that he had been, rather concerned, with regard, to his Time Management, with regard, to where, his work commitments, are concerned, especially where his Funk and Soul Show, at BBC Radio 6 Music, and his former: Trunk of Funk Show, at BBC Radio Two, and his Funk and Soul Show Club Gigs, are concerned, with regard, to where, his filming commitments, for Red Dwarf XI, are concerned, along with the rest, of the Cast and Crew of Red Dwarf, when it had actually come down to it, at the end of the day!

And Craig Charles, had also stated, via the interview, which he had conducted, with Mike Boorman, during early October 2014, that he had also, been rather concerned, whether the Production Team of Coronation Street, would actually, release him, from his Contract, for The Street, for a certain amount of time, at that point in time, with regard, to where, his filming commitments, of Red Dwarf XI, are concerned, along with the rest, of the Cast and Crew of Red Dwarf, when it had actually come down to it, at the end of the day!

And Craig Charles, had also stated, via the interview, which he had conducted, with Mike Boorman, during early October 2014, that, the new series of Red Dwarf, would go, into Production, some time, during 2015, hopefully.

And, during early October 2014, The Official Red Dwarf Fan Club Team, had put up, a Notice, on: The Official Red Dwarf Fan Club’s: News Section Website, with regard, to The Status of Red Dwarf XI, which had informed, their Annual Subscription Members, and anybody, outside: The Official Red Dwarf Fan Club, that the Cast and Crew of Red Dwarf, would not, be going, into Production, where the Eleventh Season of Red Dwarf, was concerned, until some time, during 2015, with an expected release, of Red Dwarf XI, which is going, to be broadcast, on The Freeview Channel: Dave, some time, during 2016.

And, The Official Red Dwarf Fan Club Team, had also informed, their Annual Subscription Members, via The Official Red Dwarf Fan Club’s: News Section Website, with regard, to The Status of Red Dwarf XI, that if they were, to listen, to the Norman Lovett Interview, in the Latest Edition of the Newsletter: Channel 27, that, the Annual Subscription Members of: The Official Red Dwarf Fan Club, would hear Norman, report a discussion, with Chris Barrie, and apparently Chris, had recently stated, at another Convention, that the Cast and Crew of Red Dwarf, are now hoping, to go, into Production, some time, during 2015, with the Red Dwarf XI Episodes to air, some time, during 2016.

On the 2nd of of May 2015, Doug Naylor, had announced, at the Dimension Jump XVIII Convention, which had been held, at the Nottingham Crowne Plaza Hotel, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, from Friday the 1st of May 2015, up until, Sunday the 3rd of May, 2015, that an Eleventh, and a Twelfth Series, of Red Dwarf, had been commissioned. And Doug Naylor, had also, gone on, to announce, at the Nottingham Crowne Plaza Hotel, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, from Friday the 1st of May 2015, up until, Sunday the 3rd of May, 2015, that the two series, of Red Dwarf, would be, shot back-to-back, towards the end of 2015, for broadcast, on the The Freeview Channel: Dave, during 2016 and 2017, respectively. And Doug Naylor, had also, gone on, to announce, at the Nottingham Crowne Plaza Hotel, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, from Friday the 1st of May 2015, up until, Sunday the 3rd of May, 2015, that the new series, of Red Dwarf, would be, co-produced by: Baby Cow Productions, with the Company Chief Executive Officer: Henry Normal, being the Executive, producing the new episodes, of Red Dwarf XI, and XII.

More News to come, about Red Dwarf XI, and Red Dwarf XII, coming soon!

RED DWARF GENERAL NEWS AND RED DWARF CAST NEWS

Hattie Hayridge's: Autobiography: Random Abstract Memory, has been, available, in Paperback, from the Autumn of 1997, onwards.

During the Autumn of 1997, Red Dwarf I and II, had been released, on Satellite, and they had been aired, on the UK GOLD Channel.

Since the Extended episodes of Red Dwarf VII, were released on video, courtesy of BBC Worldwide, which had included the extended episodes Tikka to Ride/Ouroboros and Duct Soup, with introductions to each episode presented by Robert Llewellyn, plus some additional new Smeg Ups from Red Dwarf VII, which is presented by Robert Llewellyn, just before Christmas 1997, BBC Worldwide released the Remastered Red Dwarf Series videos, which were of Series I to III, during the Spring of 1998 to aid sales of Red Dwarf videos for the overseas market. I have heard since that there were no foreseeable plans to release Red Dwarf Series IV to VI, in it's remastered format, because the high standard of the model shots, and the very clever layout of the sets, do not need to be remastered! Also featured as a Christmas release was the book: The Log: A Dwarfer's Guide To Everything, written by Craig Charles and Russell Bell, which is an unofficial follow up book to: The Craig Charles Almanac Of Total Knowledge by Craig Charles and Russell Bell. The Log is basically all about what the last human alive: i.e: Dave Lister might be pondering about, and this book in question, is aimed at preserving the last human's thoughts, for posterity!

During the Winter of 1998, Craig Charles’: First Collection of Poems, had been, released, in his: First Book of Poetry: No Other Blue, illustrated, by the Artist: Phillippa Drakeford, who has, also designed, the Cartoon Picture Strip Stories for: The Official Red Dwarf Fan Club's: Fanzine: Better Than Life, and for: The Official Craig Charles Fan Club's: Fanzine: Smeghead.

During the Spring and Summer of 1998, Red Dwarf III and IV, had been released, on Satellite, and they had been aired, on the UK GOLD Channel.

During the Summer of 1998, Red Dwarf VII was available on video for Australia and New Zealand only, courtesy of BBC Worldwide. Red Dwarf VII was released on two videos. Byte One: Tikka to Ride/Stoke Me a Clipper/Ouroboros and Duct Soup. Byte Two: Blue/Beyond a Joke/Epideme and Nanarchy. For the Southern Antipodean market, Red Dwarf VII was not available on video in it's extended format, and as far as I know, the American market also had Red Dwarf VII on video, in the same format as Australia and New Zealand, but I have since heard that the Extended episodes of Red Dwarf VII are now available for Australia and New Zealand. I cannot be one hundred percent sure, where that is concerned, but I am only going via what I have heard, via The Official Red Dwarf Fan Club, and the alt.tv.red-dwarf newsgroup.

During October and November 1997, the cast of Red Dwarf got together and filmed the Tenth Anniversary Special, which was aired, on the 14th of February 1998, which also included, the night before, a remastered episode of The End: Episode I: Red Dwarf I, which I also recorded for posterity! During the Tenth Anniversary Special, itself, which was introduced by none other than the actor Patrick Stewart, who plays Captain Picard in Star Trek The Next Generation. The cast of Red Dwarf along with Ainsley Harriott who played a Gelf in Emohawk: Polymorph II: Episode IV: Red Dwarf VI, did a send up version of Can't Cook, Won't Cook, which was aptly titled: Can't Cook, Can't Smeg, also re-introduced Chris Barrie as Rimmer, as a warm up to Red Dwarf VIII, and in a sense, Can't Cook, Can't Smeg, has more or less being classed unofficially as an episode of Red Dwarf itself, as it was so good, it really deserved episode status, in my opinion. The Tenth Anniversary Evening also included some new Smeg Ups from Red Dwarf VII presented by Robert Llewellyn, Craig Charles and Chris Barrie. As the evening moved on, the next item on the agenda was The Red Dwarf Universe Challenge, which was their version of University Challenge, along with Bamber Gascoigne as the Chairman, which was a quiz with the fans against the cast. The fans just about won, of course! The Tenth Anniversary Special also continued with the A-Z of Red Dwarf, which also featured interviews with Chris Barrie, Norman Lovett and Chloe Annett and the TV Presenter and The Sun Celebrity interviewer, Gary Bushell, who has also interviewed Craig Charles a lot, over the years, with regard to Red Dwarf projects, and The Governor, etcetera, and the evening also concluded with the Red Dwarf Emmy Award winning episode: Gunmen of the Apocalypse: Episode III: Red Dwarf VI. Since the Tenth Anniversary special evening, the cast of Red Dwarf, have gone on to film Red Dwarf VIII along with Chris Barrie, and the newly established cast member from Red Dwarf VII: Chloe Annett.

During the Summer of 1998, Robert Llewellyn had released his third book, this time a work of Fiction, which is, entitled: The Man on Platform 5, which is all about Ian, who is an anorak, and two high class girls, are determined to cure him, no matter what! The Man on Platform 5, was released in Paperback, during the Winter of 1999.

During the Winter of 1998, Red Dwarf V, had been released, on Satellite, and it had been aired, on the UK GOLD Channel.

While filming Red Dwarf VIII, during the Autumn and Winter 1998, the cast of Red Dwarf filmed a ten minute scene for The Children in Need evening which was aired during November 1998, and just before Christmas 1998, the cast of Red Dwarf filmed a short video, with Christmas Greetings aimed at Servicemen abroad only. And, as far as I am aware, this video is not available to the public.

Also during the Autumn of 1998, BBC2 repeated the remastered episodes of Red Dwarf I and II, and I also managed to find the time to record the remastered Kryten: Episode I: Red Dwarf II, for posterity!

Also during the Christmas 1998 market, a boxed set of the remastered videos: Red Dwarf I to III, was released.

During February 1999, Red Dwarf VIII was aired in Great Britain and The United States of America, and Red Dwarf VIII was received with greater warmth and critical acclaim, than Red Dwarf VII, which was mainly due to Chris Barrie being re-introduced as Rimmer, even though he was alive and no longer a hologram, and the general consensus is, that Red Dwarf VIII's main accomplishment, were the prison scenes between Lister and Rimmer, which really held the series together, in my opinion!

Towards the end of March 1999, Red Dwarf VII was released on video, courtesy of BBC Worldwide in Great Britain, but it was in it's originally aired, edited format, and apparently, I have heard since, that there are no more episodes of Red Dwarf VII, in an extended format. Byte One: Tikka to Ride/Stoke Me a Clipper and Ouroboros. Byte Two: Duct Soup/Blue and Beyond a Joke. Byte Three: Epdieme and Nanarchy and The A-Z of Red Dwarf.

During the Spring of 1999, Red Dwarf VI, had been released, on Satellite, and it had been aired, on the UK GOLD Channel.

Also during the Spring of 1999, BBC2 had repeated the remastered episodes of Red Dwarf III, and I also managed to find the time to record Timeslides: Episode V and The Last Day: Episode VI, for posterity!

During the start of the Summer of 1999, Red Dwarf VII, had been released, on Satellite, and it had been aired, on the UK GOLD Channel.

During the Spring of 2001, Red Dwarf VIII, had been released, on Satellite and Digital, and it had been aired, on the UK GOLD Channel.

Where Red Dwarf VIII, on video is concerned, I have recently heard, that for the American and Australian market, Red Dwarf VIII will be released on video, courtesy of BBC Worldwide, during the Summer of 1999. Byte One will included the episodes: Back in the Red I to III. Byte Two: Cassandra/Krytie TV and Pete I. Byte III Pete II/Only the Good and Red Dwarf Universe Challenge and for Great Britain during November 1999, Red Dwarf VIII will be released on video, courtesy of BBC Worldwide, but I am not exactly sure how the videos will be presented yet, but just for the record, for the time being, the latest that I have heard is, that the titles will run thusly: Byte One: Back in the Red I to III. Byte II: Cassandra/Krytie TV and Pete I. Byte III: Pete II /Only the Good and possibly more extended Red Dwarf material. I have heard that in Pete II, there was an extended scene, where Kryten's penis, went across Captain Hollister's desk! So, look out for the one that got away folks! Red Dwarf VIII will also be released as a boxed set in Great Britain. As far as I know, the episode titles, will run thusly: Byte One: Back in the Red I to III. Byte Two: Cassandra/Krytie TV and Pete I. Byte III: Pete II/Only the Good and possibly more extended Red Dwarf material. I have heard that in Pete II, there was an extended scene, where Kryten's penis, went across Captain Hollister's desk! So, look out for the one that got away folks! Also included in the boxed Red Dwarf VIII set, will be a Red Dwarf board game, and that is about all that I know about Red Dwarf VIII being released on video, for the time being, but do not worry, I will definitely update my Red Dwarf news section, as soon as it is possible for me, to do so.

I have, also discovered, that November 1999, is a possible, release date, in Hardback, for: Craig Charles': Autobiography, which is, entitled: No Irish, No Niggers, in Penguin Books. And, I have, also discovered, that May 2000, is a possible, release date, in Paperback, for: Craig Charles': Autobiography, which is, entitled: No Irish, No Niggers, in Penguin Books.

Laughing Stock Productions, are re-releasing, Infinity Welcomes Careful Drivers, narrated by Chris Barrie, in a mirrored silver container. It is a three tape package, and is eight hours long and finally, The Log: A Dwarfer's Guide To Everything, written by Craig Charles and Russell Bell is also, being released in audio format, which is narrated by Craig Charles. And finally Robert Llewellyn's new novel, which is, entitled: Punchbag, which is loaded with loads and loads of sex, is now currently, available, in Hardback. The Paperback version, of Punchbag, will be, forthcoming, during the year 2000.

With regard, to the future, of Red Dwarf, I have recently, heard, courtesy of: The Official Red Dwarf Fan Club, that the Red Dwarf Movie, will be going, into Production, during the year 2000, and will, be released, via British Cinemas, during 2001. Grant Naylor Productions, have got, no foreseeable plans, for a Ninth Series, of Red Dwarf, at the moment. But I have, heard rumours, courtesy of: The Official Red Dwarf Fan Club, that they, may do, a mini-series, of Red Dwarf, at a later date, or even, a Christmas Special, of Red Dwarf.

And, I have, also discovered, that: Danny John-Jules: Autobiography, which is, entitled: Pure Pussy, will be released, during the latter part, of 1999, and I do, not know, if it, will be, released, in Hardback, or Paperback, at this, point in time! That is, the only information, that I have got, where that, is concerned, at the moment, anyhow!

With regard, to some recently updated News, with regard, to: Craig Charles’ Comedy Series: "Screwed", which he had co-written, with Robert Llewellyn…

And Craig Charles and Robert Llewellyn, had mentioned, at the Annual: Red Dwarf Dimension Jump 1997 Convention, that their brand new: Sit-com: “Screwed”, which they, had been, writing together, was going, to be set, in a Men’s Prison, which is one, of those State of the Art: Open Prisons, run by Yuppies, who can get, rather nasty, when they really want to! Could this be, an updated version of Porridge, one thinks?!

And Craig Charles and Robert Llewellyn, had also mentioned, at the Annual: Red Dwarf Dimension Jump 1997 Convention, that they, were also, going to appear, as Prison Convicts, in their brand new: Sit-com: “Screwed”. And Craig Charles, had been going, to play, a far more hardened, and a very experienced: Yuppie Prison Convict (an old boy, in other words!), and Robert, had been going to play, a very naive, and a very inexperienced: Yuppie Prison Convict (a new boy, in other words!), in their brand new: Sit-com: “Screwed”.

And Craig Charles and Robert Llewellyn, had also mentioned, at the Annual: Red Dwarf Dimension Jump 1997 Convention, that they, had co-written, their brand new: Sit-com: “Screwed”, in the Republic of Ireland, and at: Robert's Shack, in the Cotswolds

And, Craig Charles and Robert Llewellyn, had also mentioned, at the Annual: Red Dwarf Dimension Jump 1997 Convention, that there had been, a possibility, that the BBC, had been planning, on commissioning: Craig Charles Comedy Series: "Screwed", which he had co-written, with Robert Llewellyn, for the Millennium, at that point in time…

Unfortunately however, the BBC, had eventually decided, that they, had got, no future plans, to commission: Craig Charles Comedy Series: "Screwed", which he had co-written, with Robert Llewellyn, for the Millennium, during the early Winter of 1998.

And, I had also heard, a rumour, that Craig Charles, had also written, another Comedy Series, along with some other Writers, during the late Winter of 1997.

And, I had also heard, a rumour, that Craig Charles, had been approached, with regard, to his, being featured, as a Character, in the brand new: Dr Snuggles Cartoon Series, which is a remake, of the former: Dr Snuggles Cartoon Series, which had originally, been aired, on ITV1, during 1980, during the late Winter of 1999.

And, there had been, a possibility, that Craig, was going to be, the voice of Nobby The Mouse, in the brand new: Dr Snuggles Cartoon Series, which is a remake, of the former: Dr Snuggles Cartoon Series, which had originally, been aired, on ITV1, during 1980, during the late Winter of 1999.

And, I am afraid, that is all, that I am aware of, with regard, to Craig Charles, who had been approached, with regard, to his, being featured, as a Character, in the brand new: Dr Snuggles Cartoon Series, which is a remake, of the former: Dr Snuggles Cartoon Series, which had originally, been aired, on ITV1, during 1980, during the late Winter of 1999. And, there had been, a possibility, that Craig, was going to be, the voice of Nobby The Mouse, in the brand new: Dr Snuggles Cartoon Series, which is a remake, of the former: Dr Snuggles Cartoon Series, which had originally, been aired, on ITV1, during 1980, during the late Winter of 1999, at this point in time, anyhow!

I am also hoping that Grant Naylor Productions, will release the remastered versions of Red Dwarf IV to VI on video, sooner or later, and that BBC2 will repeat the remastered version of Red Dwarf IV, because I would like to record remastered White Hole: Episode IV and Dimension Jump: Episode V, Red Dwarf IV, for posterity. I think it is very good of the BBC to air the remastered versions of Red Dwarf I to III, because for those fans of Red Dwarf, who cannot afford or want to replace their original Red Dwarf series videos, for the time being, gives you an insight, into the remastered series of Red Dwarf, especially as you can always record it, anyway. Unfortunately however, the BBC have officially classed the airing of the remastered series of Red Dwarf I to III, as repeats. But as I have taken quite an interest in the remastered episodes of Red Dwarf I to III, myself, I am fully aware that my original Red Dwarf series tapes will not last forever, and that I will have to replace them with the remastered versions of Red Dwarf, sooner or later, and as I decided to record and keep my favourite Red Dwarf episodes, earlier this year, I thought that it would give me a better understanding of the remastered versions of Red Dwarf I to III, and at the very least, I do know what to expect, when I eventually purchase the remastered versions of Red Dwarf I to III, on video, at a later date! However, that will not be for the foreseeable future just yet, but I have heard rumours, via the alt.tv.red-dwarf newsgroup, that Grant Naylor Productions, are planning to release the remastered versions of Red Dwarf I to III, on to DVD, and as we have got a DVD player on our computer, it may mean that I may be able to buy the remastered versions of Red Dwarf I to III, on top of my original series videos, as well, because deep down, well let's face it, I would like to have the remastered versions of Red Dwarf I to III, on top of my original series videos, as well! But unfortunately however, we live in a two bedroomed house, and I am having problems storing my original Red Dwarf I to VIII videos, not to mention our non Red Dwarf related videos! But for me to acquire the remastered versions of Red Dwarf I to III, on to DVD, would solve the storage problem in our house, as they do not take up a lot of space, but I must stress that this is only a rumour, that has being circulated, via the alt.tv.red-dwarf newsgroup and not, by The Official Red Dwarf Fan Club! But if do I hear anything about the remastered versions of Red Dwarf I to III, being released on to DVD, via the Official Red Dwarf Fan Club, I will update this page, as soon as it is possible for me to do so, I promise!

Whether all these future projects for Red Dwarf and for the cast of Red Dwarf's, non Red Dwarf related projects, are correct on this page, remains to be seen, and I am only going by the information, that I have recently collated, via the World Wide Web, the alt.tv.red-dwarf newsgroup and the Official Red Dwarf Fan Club, and if any of the information that I have collated together is inaccurate, then I sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused, but it is far better for me, to have some updates of future Red Dwarf projects, on this website, rather than none at all!

That's All For Now Folks!
