MARIE BIRCH’S UNOFFICIAL MIND YOUR LANGUAGE WEBSITE
Welcome to the Mind Your Language Website!
Firstly and Foremostly, I must offer, my sincere apologies for leaving it for such an unreasonable length of time, to anybody who has come across this page, for finding it almost blank, and the first sentence, cut off in mid-air! This was merely to test the new link, which I assumed that I would sort out, during the Start, of January 1998.
That was just not to be, unfortunately, what with one thing another, because I had only just finished, my Red Dwarf Dimension Jump 1997 Convention Review, and it had taken me, until the best part of January 1998, to get it mailed out, to all of the various: Red Dwarf Fanzines, via snail mail. And by the time, that I had got that sorted out, I had to mail out, a copy of my Red Dwarf Fanzine: Xanadu. And, I also had to catch up, with the Spring Cleaning, and some other projects, which had needed, my immediate attention, on the Computer, at the time, especially, where my continual Red Dwarf Fan Fiction, for the Newsgroups, had been concerned, as well, which I had had, to sort out, for the best part of seven weeks, on a Weekly basis, as I had lost, such a great deal of time, where that had been concerned! And that, has since, been taken care of, but it did not, really, leave me, a great deal of time, where writing, our Web pages, had been concerned! And, on top of that, our beloved Cat, Holly, had suddenly, been taken, very ill, as a result, of a very nasty abscess, on the top of her head, which had happened, as a result, of a very nasty Cat fight, at the time! And, for the best part of two weeks, she had to be, on medication. And, we had also, had a long Weekend in Wales, into the bargain! And, I have also had to sort out, all my work on my discs, for the best part of a week, which I had also, neglected, for the best part of six months, into the bargain! And, I had also, had about ten or twelve Postcards at a time, to sort out, for the albums, in the bargain! And, we have also. had the washing machine repaired twice in a row, and the fire, also had to be repaired. So, you name it, it's all been, go, go, go, go, and as a consequence, of all that, it had not, really been, a very good start, with regard, to where, the set up, of my brand new Mind Your Language Website, had been concerned, at the time, anyhow!
But I hope, that I will rectify that, to the very best of my ability, from now on, and I sincerely apologise for any inconvenience, to anyone, who has come across this page.
An interesting fact, that I have most recently discovered! Mind Your Language, was originally going to be called: Watch Your Language!
In 2007 Tim McInnerny spoke candidly about his love of ITV sitcoms, after receiving criticism for his views expressed on the BBC cult show:
I love the '70s. I think shows like Mind Your Language and Love Thy Neighbour need to be remembered for what they were; truly fantastic examples of sitcom writing that hasn't been seen since. The content is unfortunate in the cold light of modern society, but that's no reason to stop praising the sheer brilliance of the writers that ITV had in its ranks during that decade."[9]

I really do feel, that I must give a mention to the creator of Mind Your Language, Vince Powell, who along with the script writer George Evans (who didn't contribute towards Mind Your Language) has been responsible, for some of the best British comedy during the sixties and seventies, with shows such as: Never The Twain: The Navy Lark: Harry Worth Show: Bless This House: Love Thy Neighbour: Nearest And Dearest and Life With Cooper.
Incidentally, I have only seen Vince Powell, once on the television, when Channel Four, did a tribute to the late actor and comedian Sid James, which Paul and I, found very interesting, at the time. I just thought that I would mention it, anyway.
Since then, Vince Powell and George Evans, have set up a Comedy Script Writing course, for any would be comedy script writers. I will quote from their advertisement, at the time:-
