EPISODE I: DEATH IS JUST ANOTHER WORD

3rd January 1997

Roger runs away to join Butler and his crew, and brings a schedule for a Spanish fleet transporting slaves and gold. The crew enthusiastically decide to attack, but Butler is sure they will be killed. He pretends to be a Spanish Admiral using a fancy dress costume, and is invited on board, to discover the ship is a family Wine Merchants. His crew accidentally sink the ship.

EPISODE II: KISS ME HARDER

10th January 1997

The Victory spots the ship, and Lord Nelson and Hardy come on board. The crew decide to hide, pretending they are the Marie Celeste, but when they are not convinced, Butler pretends to be a British Captain and spins a yarn about the French attacking them, but when the others are discovered, they pretend to be French, and frighten off Nelson.

EPISODE III: DESERT ISLAND DICK

17th January 1997

The ship hits a reef, and Butler, is rescued by a Mermaid. While the crew repair the ship, Butler gets to know the mermaid Tracey better, writing her love poetry and engaging in some unusual sex. He decides to stay and marry her until he is transformed into a merman, and must give her up to be transformed back again.

EPISODE IV: THE TALE OF THE ANCIENT MARINER

24th January 1997

Roger tells the tale of an albatross bringing the curse of the ancient mariner down on them. Butler does not believe it, but the crew are convinced they are going to die. Things start to disappear, including Roger, then Adeel, and Butler starts to reconsider, when he learns he is next. The whole thing is a joke, by Roger on Butler.

EPISODE V: KIDNAPPED

31st January 1997

The crew are in port, and when a little girl stumbles on the ship, they decide to hold her for ransom. They prepare a ransom note, then they learn she is Blackbeard's daughter. At the exchange, they discover the man is Blackbeard the milliner, not the pirate, become overconfident and get beaten up.

EPISODE VI: JAILHOUSE CROCK

7th February 1997

The crew are arrested for piracy, but Butler manages to escape from jail. He returns as a Defence Council for the rest of the crew, and gets them off, but is exposed and convicted himself. The crew rescue him from the hangman's noose.

This was the only series, of Captain Butler, unfortunately, which in my general opinion, was a really great loss, where Classic British Comedy, is concerned!
